We have initiated an organic farming model for the agricultural populace in the 51 wadis where the trust works. Farmers are sensitized about the benefits and long term gains of engaging in Organic farming, suitable trainings are provided at the trusts organic farm. Buy back arrangements are provided to farmers as a marketing support for the organic produce grown on their fields. Fresh fruits, vegetables, pulses and cereals are being grown by farmers in Shrirampur taluka which are being supplied to households directly in Pune.
Women self-help groups are promoted to set up vermicomposting projects, the marketing support for which is provided by the trust. The trust lays equal emphasis on conservation of natural habitats and resources. Through check dams, rainwater harvesting and water shed development we have addressed water conservation in Ahmednagar and Umarkhed district in Maharashtra. We reached out to further villages and rural women through our inclusion programs in the past six months. By partnering with Lijjat papads, we were able to provide livelihoods to even more women, simultaneously by forming self help groups we imbibed a culture of savings among more women in the villages.
By engaging the youth and women of the villages in sustainable employment activities we are ensuring that the various efforts to
build a socio-economically stable society are complemented.
